Catherine Carpenter Hottle, 94, of the Otterbein Retirement Community in Lebanon, formerly of Hillsboro, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 15, 2011 in Lebanon.
She was born July 20, 1916 in Cherryville, N.C., the daughter of the late Clarence Eugene and Gaddie Lee Harrelson Carpenter.
Mrs. Hottle was a retired registered nurse. She was a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church and the Lebanon United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Hillsboro Jr. Women’s Club, and a member of the Sr. Mother’s Club, Hillsboro Women’s Club, American Nurses Association, Ohio State Nurses Association, Yo-Me-Co Sunday School Class and the Highland County Senior Citizens.
She is survived by one daughter, Kay Darlene (Danny) Thomas of Hillsboro; one son, Larry A. (Vee) Hottle of Granville; seven grandchildren, Denise Darlene Elrod of Cartersville, Ga., Todd (Katie) Thomas of Hillsboro, Ryan Hottle of Columbus, Troy (Andrea) Hottle of Pittsburgh, Pa., Tracy (Bart) Powell of Wilmington, Kelly (Dean) Antonelli of Brownsburg, Ind., and Christy Thomas of Sabina; 10 great -randchildren, Nathan Elrod, Emily Grace Elrod, Seth Arnold, Erik Powell, Ethan Powell, Emily Powell, Brock Antonelli, Kelsey Brown, Kyley Brown and Killian Brown; one sister, Sara Rhea of Bristol, Tenn. and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Darrell R. Hottle on May 4, 1989; and four brothers, William Cone Carpenter, C. Ray Carpenter, S. Stowe Carpenter and J. Alton Carpenter.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church. Rev. Derek Russell, Danny Thomas and Robert D. Hottle will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
