Carlos Rhoads, 86, of Peebles, passed away Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011 at his residence.

He was born in Sinking Spring on Aug. 10, 1924, the son of the late Irvin and Mary Hazel (Wallace) Rhoads.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ermalene (Swayne) Rhoads, who passed away on Jan. 22, 2008.

Carlos attended numerous Churches of Christ in Christian Union; he was an honored minister of 50 years and a pastor of various Churches of Christ in Christian Union.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Mary Rhoads of Peebles and Marlyn and Sue Davis of Peebles; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Z.D. Lay of Columbus and Peggy and Vondon Applegate of Peebles; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Locust Grove Wesleyan Tabernacle with Rev. Jack Norman and Pastor Richard Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call on Saturday from 4-8 p.m. at the Locust Grove Wesleyan Tabernacle.

The Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles is in charge of the arrangements.
