Carl R. Jacobs, 90, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dayton.
He was born Feb. 8, 1922 in Mt. Orab, the son of the late Floyd and Nancy Srofe Jacobs.
He was a veteran of the United States Army in the Corps of Engineers serving during World War II. Mr. Jacobs was a member of the Northside Church of Christ, a truck driver hauling grain for Bobb Bros. and a member of American Legion Post #888 in Columbus, Buckeye State Sheriff Association and the Truck Drivers Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Karen Diane (Dennis) Hallberg of Loveland, Colo. and Judy Ann (Scott) Jones of Beavercreek; one son, Dennis Ray (Kimberly) Jacobs of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Jennifer Hallberg of Tampa, Fla., Mike (Heather) Smith of Crane, Texas, Lisa Smith of Wilberforce, Ohio, Sarah Jacobs of Hillsboro and Phillip Jacobs of Hillsboro; five great-grandchildren; Gabriel, Shepherd, Melody, Vivian and Evelyn; five stepchildren; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Hilda (Barnes) Jane Jacobs and his second wife Dorothy (Louderback) Fields Jacobs.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Turner and Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Bill Pierce will officiate. Burial will follow in the Barnes Cemetery where the Highland County Honor Guard will accord military honors.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
