C. Pauline Shoemaker, 74, of Hillsboro, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011 at the Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati.

She was born in Highland County on June 24, 1937, the daughter of the late Paul and Margaret (Grover) Cummings.

She was a member of the Marshall United Methodist Church, was a graduate of Marshall High School and worked for several years at Ohio Bell as a telephone operator in Dayton and Hillsboro and Top Value Stamps.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Ralph Shoemaker, whom she married on March 24, 1956; one daughter, Cheryl Shoemaker and Michael Rhodes of Wadmalaw Island, S.C.; two brothers and sister-in-law, Ferris and Patty Cummings and John Cummings, all of Hillsboro; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Sammy Colliver of Hillsboro, Shirley and Richard Matthews of Jamestown and Dr. Mary Lou and John Patton of Media, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at the Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Janie Shoemaker and Rev. Debra Ketcham officiating. Burial will follow in the Marshall Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
