Bernice B. Shumaker, 84, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at her home.

She was born on July 31, 1928 in Ross County, the daughter of Pearl and Sarah (Johnson) Mick.

She was an avid music fan and loved her family and was a member of the Fruitdale United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Sue (Donald) Owens, Carol Anne (Keith) Grate of Greenfield and Pattie (Charles “Skip” Hamilton) Adams, all of Greenfield; one son, Tim (Emma) Shumaker of Greenfield; 12 grandchildren, Michael Owens of Dover, Del., Jeremy Owens of Greenfield, Chad (Nicole) Richmond of Leesburg, Jamie (Eric) Huff of Highland, Andrea (Don) Tebbe of Fayetteville, N.C., Bobbie Jo Soales of Lancaster, Jessica Hickok of Dayton, Robert Shumaker of Montana, Allison Adams of Greenfield and Courtney Adams of Greenfield, Timika Shumaker of Greenfield and Kim Shumaker of Greenfield; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Madeline Spangler of Frankfort, Ohio; one brother, Carl Mick of Greenfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Shumaker on Feb. 2, 2011 after 61 years of marriage; one daughter, Sandy Shumaker; one infant son, Randy Shumaker; eight sisters, 11 brothers and both parents.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Rev. Marland Penwell officiating. Burial will follow in the South Salem Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
