Barbara (Shipley) Butler, 69, of Seaman, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at Adams County Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Brown County, Ohio on Aug. 22, 1941, the daughter of the late Roy and Dorothy (Brown) Shipley.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ruben Fenton.

Barbara attended the Seaman Presbyterian Church. She was also the secretary for the Seaman American Legion Auxiliary Post #633, on the Seaman Board of Public Affairs, drove for the Seaman Life Squad for 26 years, and a member of the Scott Township Ladies Auxiliary Fire Department, and she mowed various yards and cemeteries for several years.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Verl Butler of Seaman; one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Lisa Butler of Seaman; two stepsons, Dean and Margaret Butler of Austin, Texas and Mike Butler of Peebles; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Pam Shipley of Antioch, Ill.; two sisters; Betty Boe of Sauk Village, Ill. and Shirley Shipley of Sardinia; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Lewis-Sullivan Chapel in Seaman with Brother Kenny Cousar officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Leigh Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Lewis-Sullivan Chapel in Seaman.
