Alvin Eugene Sanderson, Sr., 67, of Leesburg, passed away Monday evening, Nov. 5, 2012 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital.

Alvin was born on April 9, 1945, in Washington Court House, the son of the late Eldon Dewey and Agnes Isabelle (Ackley) Sanderson.

On Feb. 24, 1969, he married Barbara Howard, and she preceded him in death on June 9, 2011.

He is survived by a son, Alvin Eugene Sanderson, Jr., of Greenfield; two daughters, Diane Mt. Castle and her husband Mike of Hillsboro and Shannon Blair and her husband Barry of Washington C.H.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two sisters, Brenda Kay (Alan) Bartruff of Washington C.H. and Patricia Taylor of Balm, Fla.; and two brothers, Ed Sanderson and wife Bonnie of Scott City, Kan. and Elmer Dean Sanderson and his wife Judy of Washington C.H.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, George Jr., Leo Ralph and Johnnie Harrison Sanderson.

In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated. Graveside services will be Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at 2 p.m., at the Gilboa Cemetery, Petersburg, six miles south of Greenfield on Bectal Road. A memorial service will follow at the Grace Baptist Church in Greenfield, Ohio.

The Turner Funeral Home in Leesburg is serving the family.
