Ahead of National Poll Worker Recruitment Day, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is once again encouraging Ohioans to answer the call to serve as poll workers and help ensure another successful Election Day.

The Ohio Department of Veterans Services (ODVS), in partnership with the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health (ODBH), hosted the Ohio Veterans Convention on Saturday, August 8 at the Ohio Union on The Ohio State University campus.

The Highland County Retired Teachers Association (HCRTA) will meet on Monday, Aug. 24 at noon at the Freedom Trail Ministry and Campground in Greenfield. This is the former Chautauqua Park area. 

In roughly 20 months, the U.S. State Department has revoked more than 175,000 visas of foreign nationals who “violated the terms of their visas, committed crimes, called for violence against U.S. citizens, defrauded Americans, abused the immigration system or endangered national security,” the State Department announced. 

David Williams, president of the Taxpayers Protection Alliance, said there is not enough accountability or oversight of the money that goes to nonprofits.

The Highland County Historical Society will once again honor local excellence, service, and legacy with the induction of five new members into its Hall of Fame on Sunday, Aug. 16.
