    OVRDC to hold annual appreciation banquet
          Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission’s (OVRDC) Annual Full Commission Meeting and Election of Officers will be held on Wednesday, March 24th in Pike County at the Pike County Career Technology Center (Vern Riffe Vocational School), 175 Beaver Creek Road, Piketon, Ohio Registration and social time will be held at 5:30 p.m.   The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. The keynote speaker for the event will be Tony Logan, USDA Rural Development, State Director – Ohio.

    ODOT maintenance crews are working in Adams, Brown, Highland and Jackson counties Sunday morning to treat for snow and ice conditions. With a mix of freezing rain and light snow, routes are mostly clear and wet; however, they are likely to be very slick and black ice may form quickly.

    Mayor Zink issues State of the City column
    As I stated last year, with the economical condition of the country, we would have to constantly monitor the budget in relation to cash flow. Going into 2009, the city had a tight budget, however the department supervisors did what they needed to do to bring each department within budget at year end. There was some juggling of line items to make this possible. This is nothing new, it happens every year where one line item runs short of money and a different line has money left over or had not spent the total appropriated amount.

    Airport budget latest issue for county commissioners
    Fiscal concerns at the Highland County Airport were discussed at length at Wednesday’s meeting of the Highland County Board of Commissioners. Airport representatives Dr. Paul Terrell, Dan Cowdrey, Virginia Hope and Tom Hudson met with commissioners Shane Wilkin and Tom Horst regarding concerns over airport funding. Commissioner Gary Heaton was not in attendance at the meeting.
