The Chillicothe VA Medical Center is proud to announce that it will be hosting the 3rd annual September 11th Memorial 5k on Thursday, Sept. 11.
This special event will bring together Veterans, VA staff, and community members to honor and remember the lives lost during the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, and to recognize the bravery and sacrifice of first responders, military personnel, and civilians.
The 5k event will kick off with an opening ceremony featuring a speech by the Fire Chief of the Chillicothe VA Fire Department, Chief Luke Wasick and includes remarks from a Navy Veteran who was stationed in New York City at the time of the attack.
“We invite everyone to join us for this meaningful event,” said Ken Mortimer, Executive Medical Center Director of the Chillicothe VA. “Our annual memorial 5k is a powerful way to honor the memory of those we lost on September 11th and to come together as a community to support one another.”
The event will take place on the scenic grounds of the Chillicothe VA Medical Center, with the 5k route clearly marked and supported by water and first aid stations to ensure the safety and comfort of all runners, walkers, and riders. Whether you are a seasoned runner or participating for the first time, all are welcome to join in this day of remembrance and unity.
