Suspect from Kentucky arrested in connection with fatal shooting in Adams County

A Bowling Green, Ky. man was arrested this week in connection with a fatal shooting in Manchester, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 4:42 a.m. on Jan. 26, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls in regard to what sounded like shots being fired in the 300 block of East 7th Street in Manchester. Deputies arrived in the area at approximately 4:48 a.m. and located one victim — identified as a 47-year-old male — with fatal injuries.

While conducting the investigation, multiple witnesses described a suspect vehicle leaving the area where the shots were fired and later identified the suspect allegedly involved. The suspect was identified as Jason Strain, 43, of Bowling Green, Ky.

Strain allegedly fled from the scene and was believed to be en route to an address in Bowling Green. With the assistance of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Intel traffic cameras, the ACSO was able to get a location of the vehicle.

At approximately 10:29 a.m., the Bowling Green Police Department conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. During the traffic stop, the suspect complied and was taken into custody by Bowling Green Police.

Strain was incarcerated in the Warren County, Ky. Jail on charges out of Bowling Green, Ky. And Adams County, Ohio.

According to the Adams County Clerk of Courts website, Strain has been charged with one count of murder. His arraignment in Adams County is still pending.
