Suspect charged in fatal shooting on Brownberry Drive in Wilmington

WILMINGTON – The Wilmington Police Department has charged 33-year-old Kyler Whitt with murder following a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday evening.

At approximately 7:49 p.m. on April 15, officers were dispatched to 1183 Brownberry Drive, Apartment B, in response to a 911 call reporting gunfire. Upon arrival, officers located 55-year-old Kelley Blazer with a fatal gunshot wound. Blazer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Whitt, the victim's son, was present at the location and was taken into custody without incident. He has been formally charged with murder and is currently being held at the Clinton County Jail.

"This is a heartbreaking and tragic incident," said Chief Robert Wilson of Wilmington Police Department. "Our thoughts are with the loved ones of Kelley Blazer as they process this unimaginable loss."
