Southern State math faculty showcase expertise at international conference

Southern State is proud to announce that two of its esteemed faculty members were selected to present at the International Symposium on Numeracy Education, held March 20-21 at the University of Galway in Ireland.
The conference brought together leading experts, scholars, and professionals from around the world, providing a global platform for academic exchange and collaboration.
In today’s rapidly evolving and highly technological world, numeracy skills are increasingly important for enabling informed, empowered, and critical citizenship. The conference presented a rich diversity of ways in which numeracy is conceptualized and enacted in education today.
Southern State’s Robert Krauss, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, and Zac Kronick, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, each contributed valuable insights using skills from their respective fields. Their presentation, Implementing Quantitative Reasoning to Empower Diverse Learners in Rural Appalachia, covered how Quantitative Reasoning is utilized to reach a vast array of students from a variety of backgrounds and math histories.
“It was an honor to be part of this prestigious event, and I’m thrilled to share our work with an international audience,” said Professor Krauss. “I agree with Krauss,” added Kronick. “This conference provided a unique opportunity for knowledge exchange and fostered greater collaboration across disciplines.”
The conference featured keynote speeches from renowned scholars, panel discussions, and networking opportunities with professionals from across the globe. As part of Southern State's ongoing commitment to academic excellence, these professors are proud to represent Southern State on such a significant stage.
Krauss and Kronick had the opportunity to network with conference goers, who included curriculum developers, educators, and researchers.
