Rep. Brandon Gill to lead new task force on exposing institutions seeking to undermine American government; kicks off with letter investigating fraud in Ohio’s Medicaid program
WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) today announced Representative Brandon Gill (R-Texas) will chair the newly created Task Force on Defending Constitutional Rights and Exposing Institutional Abuses.
The Task Force will focus on defending constitutional rights in the face of institutions that work to abuse and undermine historic pillars of American government and society, including illegal DEI policies, the abuse of immigration and social welfare programs, and efforts by foreign actors and dark money groups to suppress Americans’ free speech.
“Representative Brandon Gill is a star on the Oversight Committee and has exposed the insanity of the Radical Left who seeks to undermine fundamental American values protected under our Constitution. I am happy to announce Representative Gill as the new chairman of our Task Force to support the preservation of constitutional rights enjoyed by the American People. Under his leadership, we will continue to expose radical ideologies being pushed on Americans and fight to safeguard our freedom that we’ve enjoyed as a nation for 250 years,” said Chairman Comer.
“Americans deserve truth, transparency, and justice,” said Task Force Chairman Gill. “They are sick of being defrauded by government institutions and programs that should have been putting them first, not robbing their tax dollars. It is my great honor to chair the Oversight Committee’s new Task Force on Defending Constitutional Rights and Exposing Institutional Abuses.
"It is a great privilege and responsibility to carry on this extension of the work Chairman Comer and the committee is doing to fight for integrity and freedom for all.”
Today, Chairman Comer and Task Force Chairman Gill sent a letter to Ohio Department of Medicaid Director Scott Partika requesting documents and information to kick off the Task Force’s oversight by investigating the massive Ohio Medicaid fraud recently exposed by the Daily Wire. Recent reporting indicates that there is significant fraud in Ohio’s Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Medicaid waiver program, including providers improperly billing Medicaid or billing for services that were clearly never provided with little to no consequence.

Rep. Mike Dovilla reacts to Ohio Medicaid fraud reports
Ohio State Rep. Mike Dovilla (R-Berea) commented on recent reports exposing widespread abuse of Ohio’s Medicaid system, in which some businesses have exploited loopholes to collect millions in taxpayer dollars without providing legitimate care.
“It appears that the State of Ohio is being systematically bankrupted by bad actors who have come here with zero intention of working hard but rather have figured out how to exploit the goodness of the American people to drain our country dry,” Dovilla said, highlighting the impact on Ohio taxpayers.
The reports detail hundreds of home health businesses operating out of multiple properties in Columbus, including one landlord’s seven buildings housing 288 Medicaid-registered companies that collectively billed more than $250 million from 2018 through 2024. Many of these businesses appear to provide minimal or no actual care, often paying family members through the companies to qualify for Medicaid reimbursements.
“The residents of our state expect Medicaid dollars to go to those who truly need it, not fraudsters abusing loopholes. Ohioans deserve action, not strongly worded letters,” Dovilla said. He noted that last year’s state budget included legislation he authored to audit Medicaid and protect taxpayer funds, requiring a full audit of the Aged, Blind, and Disabled eligibility group, the disenrollment of ineligible recipients, and the implementation of an electronic asset verification system to prevent future abuse.
Dovilla serves as vice chairman of the House Finance Committee and has a longstanding record of advocating for fiscal accountability, transparency, and taxpayer protections in state programs.

Ruby Red Ohio
Last time I checked Barbie, the GOP has controlled every branch of state government for the past 15 years. Perhaps the problem is there are no checks and balances when you have one party rule. The only remaining checks are a free press, the FBI and citizen led ballot initiatives/referendums. And the Ohio GOP wants to restrict the latter.
