Pike County commissioners sign proclamation for National Health Centers Week

In a show of strong community partnership and recognition, the Pike County commissioners – Tony Montgomery, Jerry Miller, and Jeff Chaffin – officially signed a proclamation in recognition of Aug. 3-9, 2025 as National Health Centers Week in Pike County. The signing ceremony took place in the Commissioners' Hearing Room at the Pike County Government Building in Waverly.
National Health Centers Week (NHCW) is an annual nationwide celebration hosted by the National Association of Community Health Centers, and is designed to shine a spotlight on the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers. Taking place each August, the week highlights the vital role community health centers play in delivering high-quality, affordable, and accessible care – particularly in underserved areas.

The proclamation was signed in honor of Valley View Health Centers (VVHC) and their critical work in delivering quality, accessible healthcare to residents of Pike County and surrounding counties. In attendance were Keith Pitts, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Community Action Committee of Pike County (CAC); Dr. Christine McKain, Medical Director of VVHC; and Clinton Throckmorton, Director of Operations & Special Projects for VVHC.
Commissioner Tony Montgomery introduced the resolution, which received unanimous support and praise from his fellow commissioners.
“We appreciate all that the CAC does for our communities,” stated Commissioner Jeff Chaffin, as he joined his colleagues in signing the NHCW’s Proclamation.
“I appreciate your support with recognizing the hard work and impact of our Valley View Health Centers within the communities that we support,” said Pitts. “And, I would like to extend a special 'thank you' to Jerry (Miller) for his leadership on the CAC’S volunteer Governing Board.”

These health centers are not just providers of care but are also economic engines, job creators, and trusted voices within the communities they serve.
