Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser struck on Interstate 275

Montgomery - The Hamilton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a three-vehicle injury crash, involving a marked Ohio State Highway Patrol enforcement vehicle. The crash occurred on Interstate 275 eastbound ramp to Interstate 71 southbound at approximately 10:25 p.m. on Thursday, April 10 in the City of Montgomery, Hamilton County. 

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, operated by Mr. Patrick Donovan, age 34, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 275, ramping onto southbound Interstate 71 when he struck a marked Ohio State Highway Patrol enforcement vehicle, with emergency lights activated.  The patrol vehicle then rolled forward and struck a construction vehicle, that was parked on the right shoulder to assist with a partial lane closure. 
 
As a result of the crash, a Trooper was transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.  No other injuries were reported as a result of the crash.  Mr. Donovan was incarcerated in the Hamilton County Justice Center for suspicion of Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence, and Assault on a Peace Officer.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the City of Montgomery Police Department, The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, and the City of Montgomery Fire & EMS.

The incident remains under investigation by the Hamilton Patrol Post.
