Lebanon OSHP Post investigating fatal crash

Turtle Creek Township – The Lebanon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a single-vehicle, fatal traffic crash involving a motorcycle. The crash occurred at approximately 8:23 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11 on North Waynesville Road, north of Hollingsworth Road, in Turtle Creek Township, Warren County.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2000 Honda CBR-600 motorcycle, operated by Mathew Schmitz, 26, of Fairfield Township, Ohio, was traveling southwest on North Waynesville Road. 

Schmitz failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the right side of the roadway where he struck a ditch and a tree.

Schmitz was the only occupant on the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Turtle Creek Township EMS, Clear Creek Township EMS, Wayne Township EMS, and Jacob’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lebanon Post.
