Husted, Moreno secure funding for USDOT BUILD grant highway project in Franklin County
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sens. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) and Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) secured $25 million in funding for a crucial Ohio project through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant program.
“Ohio is a hub for manufacturing, and I’m proud to help lead the effort to strengthen the critical infrastructure that undergirds Ohio jobs. Ohio’s central location allows drivers to reach more than 60% of the U.S. population daily. We fought for this $25 million investment in Franklin County to reduce travel time, improve safety and support the supply chains that keep Ohio’s economy moving forward. I’ll continue to advocate for Made-in-Ohio solutions that ensure our state remains at the heart of our nation’s economic future,” said Husted.

The announcement follows a June 18, 2025 letter from the senators to USDOT’s Director of the Office of Infrastructure Deployment, John Augustine, advocating for the projects in Franklin County.
The funding is part of the USDOT fiscal year 2025 BUILD grant program.
Background:
The grant allocation builds on Husted’s work as a member of the Committee on Environment and Public Works. In this role, Husted has been a strong advocate for strengthening Ohio’s infrastructure. The committee is responsible for legislation and oversight of the natural and built environment and for studying matters concerning environmental protection and resource conservation and utilization. Husted will continue to support economic development and resilient communities across the state.
The BUILD program provides grants for surface transportation infrastructure projects with significant local or regional impacts.
The USDOT will allocate an additional $25 million to Franklin County to widen Alum Creek Drive by adding a third through lane in each direction between State Route 317 (London-Groveport Road) and Groveport Road, covering approximately 2.6 miles.
