In a tremendous display of community support, the annual Highland District Hospital Foundation Gala unfolded Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Hillsboro Orpheum, leaving attendees inspired and the Foundation enriched with vital funds to support its important initiatives.

The evening began with social hour and then opened with a welcome and thank-you by Amy Hamilton, Foundation Chairman.

“The success of this event would not be possible without the support of our attendees and sponsors, the dedicated Foundation Board of Directors, Foundation Gala committee and the employee volunteers from the hospital,” Hamilton said.

An invocation was then given by Dr. Anthony Wetherington, Chief of Staff, and dinner was served by Jill’s Farmhouse Catering.

“The Foundation Gala is our biggest fundraiser of the year and plays an important role in raising funds for Highland District Hospital,” said Erin Richmond, Foundation Manager. “We are thrilled by the overwhelming support we received during this year’s gala. The generosity of our attendees and sponsors will make a significant impact, enabling us to continue to enhance the quality of healthcare in our community by securing philanthropic support.

“Through donations, grants and partnerships, we strive to provide the resources necessary to advance medical research, improve patient care and ensure that all individuals have access to the highest standards of healthcare.”

During the evening attendees were able to bid on silent auction items, buy tickets for split the pot, spirits pull, first chance on a live auction item and vacation experience package chances.

Tim Parry, President & CEO, thanked all in attendance and emphasized the significance of the continued support of the community.

“The impact we are making as a hospital is truly extraordinary,” Parry said. “The hard work and dedication of our team —along with your continued support— are the driving forces behind our success. Together, we are providing exceptional care and exceptional service to our community, making a real difference in the lives of those we serve.”

Thanks to a generous match donation of $5,000, the event continued with an impromptu call to action that raised an additional $17,000.

The night concluded with the announcement of winners from the silent auction, live auction and other drawings, as well as the winner of the vacation experience raffle, which was Jamie Wheeler, Director of the Highland County Chamber of Commerce.

With more than 200 attendees, the event raised an impressive $100,000.

“Putting on an event of this size is definitely a team effort,” Richmond said. “We’re so thankful for our amazing community, as well as the Foundation board and Gala committee for all their support.”
