Highland County Sheriff’s Office: 2 juveniles from Alabama arrested in Mowrystown
The Highland County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrests of two juveniles from Alabama accused of stealing a vehicle and crashing it outside of Mowrystown.
On Thursday, Aug. 1 at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol handled a one-car motor vehicle accident on Fenwick Road in Whiteoak Township. The occupants had allegedly fled the scene on foot prior to their arrival.
A handgun was found in the vehicle, and it was determined the car had been reported stolen out of Alabama.
On Friday, Aug. 2 at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Highland County Sheriff’s Office was notified that two male juveniles from Alabama had allegedly stolen the car that had crashed on Fenwick Road. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office along with the Highland County Task Force were able to locate the juveniles in an abandoned house in Mowrystown, and a foot pursuit began.
One juvenile was quickly taken into custody, but the second ran and was eventually caught. The juveniles were transported to the Highland County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to the Ohio State Highway Patrol to be transported to detention.
