The Ohio Hospital Association and the State Office of Rural Health presented Highland District Hospital the Program of the Year award for Health Fair 2009. The award recognizes the programs implemented by critical access hospitals in Ohio that promoted health and facilitated innovative health care delivery systems. In an effort to assess, monitor and meet community needs, Highland District Hospital created the Health Fair. The enormity of socioeconomic problems facing our county have led to an increase in underinsured and uninsured people; therefore, Highland District Hospital stepped up to the plate to provide comprehensive screenings to all citizens at a nominal fee. The results from these annual screenings identify health disparities, and enhance the quality of health services by tailoring current and future programs to meet the healthcare needs of our vulnerable community.
Congratulations to the 121 employees who donated their time to make Health
Fair 2009 an award winning success.
