Hamilton OSHP Post investigating a fatal pedestrian traffic crash on I-75 in Monroe
HAMILTON – The Hamilton Patrol Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal pedestrian traffic crash. The crash occurred at approximately 5:19 a.m. on June 21, on Northbound I-75 near mile marker 31 in the City of Monroe, Warren County.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2023 Kenworth semi-tractor trailer operated by Barbaros Yilmaz, 44, Chatham, New Jersey, struck a pedestrian walking in the roadway.
The pedestrian was Norma Jean Howard, 74, of Carlisle. Howard was then struck by a 2013 Ford Fusion, operated by Freddy Perdoma Sanchez, 57, of Middletown.
Howard was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Turlecreek Township Fire and EMS, Barrett’s Towing, and the Warren County Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
