Habitat for Humanity celebrates with ribbon cutting
The Highland County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Habitat for Humanity of Highland County on June 25 to celebrate their new location. Habitat for Humanity is overseen by a Board of Directors and is located at 136 North High Street in Hillsboro. Habitat for Humanity offers new or slightly used housewares and provided home building services to qualified individuals.

Habitat for Humanity, located in Hillsboro, celebrated their new location with a ribbon cutting from the Highland County Chamber of Commerce, along with family, friends, and members of the community on June 25. Habitat for Humanity is a global Christian housing ministry that is overseen by a Board of Directors and is located at 136 North High Street in Hillsboro.
Habitat for Humanity was founded in Americus, Georgia by Millard and Linda Fuller in 1976. The idea of building homes for families in need gained global attention when Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter championed the cause. It offers goods including new or slightly used housewares and provides services that include building new homes for qualified individuals and light repairs.
Habitat for Humanity of Highland County would like to thank Amazon Distribution Center in Hillsboro for providing 10-12 helpers to paint the wood floors at the new location, First State Bank of Hillsboro and Winchester for providing a “cleaning crew” to wash and wipe down walls, clean bathroom, windows, and the office area. S.A.T.H for the use of their Box Truck during the relocation to the new store. Duane Compton for the donations of cabinets, countertops, doors, and many other “large ticket” items. Nate Stice for regular volunteerism in picking up donated items and assembling new and in-box items. Abbott Signs for the relocation of outdoor signage and decals for door and windows. Habitat for Humanity of Clinton County for sharing their inventory, Lowes in Hillsboro for their regular donation of overstocked or discontinued items, and the Masonic Lodge in Hillsboro for going above and beyond in assistance during the relocation and their ongoing helpfulness. All donors and buyers of donated items. “We could not exist without you," Dennis Mount said.
