Greenfield Rotary auction June 6; event held during the Greenfield Music Festival June 5-7

While the Greenfield Rotary Club has served its community for more than a century, this year marks four decades of the club’s primary fundraiser, the Rotary auction.

Since 1986, the Greenfield Rotary Club has held an annual auction during the various iterations of the town’s summer festival – the Rotary-sponsored Wheels of Progress and Greene Countrie Town festivals, and now the Greenfield Music Festival. The auction held during the festivals is the club’s largest fundraiser of the year, in the past bringing in an average of $20,000.

Those funds help the club do its community work. Among the many, many ways the Greenfield Rotary Club channels funds raised into the community are: kindergarten registration packets for all incoming kindergarten students, sponsoring Main Street Downtown Greenfield, supplying the furnishings for Hays Court, sponsoring middle school students for the annual trip to Washington, D.C., the Four-Way Test Scholarship award, providing an annual ice cream social for the community, providing financial support for local community events and activities like the Greenfield Music Festival, Community Christmas Dinner, Adena Health Foundation Golf Outing, McClain High School All Night Party, and Highland County Society for Children and Adults Telethon, and more. 

This year’s auction is set for June 6 and will begin at 1 p.m. in Hays Court, located in downtown Greenfield at 323 Jefferson St. Just some of the items that will be auctioned off are Bengals tickets, Chillicothe Paints tickets, gift baskets, patio furniture, potted plants, crocks, a replica of a guitar belonging to KISS’s Paul Stanley, limited edition prints, and so much more. 

A staple of each year’s auctions are the limited edition prints, which for the past several years have been created by local artist Tammy Wells. The prints each year feature something decidedly Greenfield. This year’s print is Greenfield’s post office on a three-cent stamp.

There is a form available in that post, which are due by June 4. However, any donation to the auction can be accepted right up to auction time on June 6. Donated items can be dropped off at the Greenfield locations of Southern Hills Community Bank, Merchants National Bank, and Community Savings Bank. Additionally, donations can be picked up at your location, just make sure that information is included on the form. And if you would like to donate a gift certificate for your business, but don’t have any, no worries, the Rotary Club will create one for you. Just make sure that information like the item(s), service(s), or dollar amount of the certificate is included on the return form. 

The Greenfield Rotary Club has served the community since 1922.
