Note: Each year, the Highland County 4-H Advisory Committee selects contributors to the Highland County 4-H program to recognize their support and passion for the 4-H program. These businesses and individuals spend countless hours and resources to benefit the youth of Highland County, truly making the best better.vFor 2025, we recognize the following: Highland County Pork Council, Highland District Hospital, Jeff & Amanda Knauff, and Kaley Fannin. This story focuses on the Highland County Pork Council's award.
 
It’s an honor to take a moment to recognize one of the strongest allies of the Highland County 4‑H programFor years, this group has been more than just a sponsor. They’ve been a partner in the growth, success, and development of our 4‑H youth. From underwriting the 4‑H open hog show at the county fair to covering entry fees and showmanship awards, their support has made livestock projects more accessible for families across the county.

But their impact goes beyond the show ring.

Each year, this group hosts an incredible banquet that not only highlights our youth but also promotes leadership through a queen’s contest. These events give our 4‑H members the chance to grow in confidence, build connections, and learn from agricultural professionals and peers alike.

Many of our 4‑H alumni credit these opportunities for shaping their futures by teaching them responsibility, communication skills, and a lifelong love of agriculture.

Whether it’s supporting infrastructure, fostering leadership, or simply showing up year after year, this group has helped ensure that 4‑H remains strong, sustainable, and deeply rooted in our community values.

On behalf of all our 4‑H members we thank the Highland County Pork Council, for their unwavering support and investment in the next generation of agricultural leaders and are honored to present them with the Friends of 4-H Award.
