At its regular meeting held Oct. 9, the Fairfield Local Board of Education:
• Recognized Francis Welch and Jessie Whited for their generous donation of a Class of 1948 picture for display with other class pictures
• Approved minutes from September 21, 2009 Regular Board Meeting
• Heard the Treasurer's Report
• Approved the following donations:
• $1784.00 from Leesburg Federal Savings Bank for costs associated with the One Call Now System
• $412.50 from the Athletic Boosters to the Athletic Department
• Approved financial statement and payment of bills
• Approved the Five Year Forecast
• Approved the list of substitute teachers as nominated by the SOESC
• Approved Final Appropriations for 2010
• Accepted the following resignations: Cynthia Reeves (8th Grade Girl's Basketball) and Josh Eakins (7th Grade Boy's Basketball)
• Approved Supplemental Contracts for: Everett Snyder (Freshman Boy's
Basketball) and Karen Rose (Junior Class/Prom Advisor)
• Approved the following as Virtual Learning Academy Instructors: Victor Bartodej, Travis Vance, Amanda Martinez, Everett Snyder, Lisa Wilt, Kristi Welling, and Travis Teeters
•… Approved Craig Adams (Varsity Boy's Basketball) and Scott Bates (JH Boy's Basketball) as volunteers
• Approved the following non-certified subs: Douglas Dailey and Michael Cullen
In his report, Superintendent Bill Garrett:
• Discussed the recent announcements by the governor regarding school funding
• Updated the board on the pending legislation regarding AYP
• Discussed the policy implications of the recently passed HB1
• Congratulated Abigail Current for being named a Commended Student in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program
In their comments, members of the board:
• Thanked all the donors, with special thanks to Leesburg Federal Savings Bank.
• Thanked the public for allowing the board to act on their behalf
