DeWine announces 7 projects set to create 1,328 jobs

COLUMBUS — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik this week announced the approval of seven projects that will create 1,328 new jobs and retain 905 jobs statewide. 

During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. The projects are expected to result in more than $83.5 million in new payroll and generate over $123.4 million in investment across Ohio. 

CENTRAL
Dupon USA LLC expects to create 60 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $3,071,000 in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in the city of Columbus (Franklin County). Dupon designs ice cream equipment for businesses worldwide, offering innovative solutions for small to large producers with a focus on quality, efficiency, and customer support. The proposed project involves constructing a new 175,000-square-foot building to produce baked wafers, cookies, and crunch products for the industrial ice cream market and manufacturers. TCA approved a 1.195 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project. 

Copper Run Capital LLC expects to create 30 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $6 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in the city of Columbus (Franklin County). Copper Run is a boutique mergers and acquisitions advisory firm focused on providing senior-level attention to clients. The proposed project involves leasing 18,000 square feet of new space to accommodate an expansion. TCA approved a 1.813 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project. 

NORTHEAST
Applied Metal Technologies, LTD expects to create 152 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $11 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in the city of Bedford Heights and Village of Brooklyn Heights (Cuyahoga County), and the city of Wadsworth (Medina County). Applied Metals machines, polishes, and finishes OEM and aftermarket aluminum wheels for the automotive, commercial vehicle, and aerospace markets. Applied Metals is considering establishing a new manufacturing operation in the city of Bedford Heights and is seeking to add domestic aluminum wheel casting capabilities to its current offering of services. TCA approved a 1.619 percent, nine-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project. 

East Trailers LLC expects to create 175 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $9,570,000 in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in Randolph Township and the city of Kent (Portage County). East Trailers manufactures aluminum and steel commercial trailers and truck bodies, including flatbed, drop-deck, dump and refuse trailers for the North American trucking industry, supplying fleets and vocational customers. The proposed project involves expanding production capacity and adding a new trailer design, creating manufacturing efficiencies, capitalizing on market location, and expanding new products into the US and Midwest region. TCA approved a 1.496 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project. 

SOUTHWEST
Resonant Sciences LLC expects to create 101 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $10 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in the city of Beavercreek (Greene County). Resonant Sciences focuses on radome and antenna design and fabrication, custom electronic solutions, and modeling and measurements of materials, antennas, radomes, and subsystems. The proposed project includes a production facility that would support mass manufacturing and sustainment operations for military aircraftradomes. TCA approved a 1.738 percent, nine-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.

SOUTHEAST
Vertiv Corporation expects to create 520 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $26,025,000 in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the city of Ironton (Lawrence County). Vertiv designs and manufactures critical infrastructure solutions that support data centers, communication networks, and industrial applications around the world. TCA approved a 1.600 percent, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project. 

APAR USA LLC expects to create 290 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $17.9 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in the village of Frazeysburg (Muskingum County). APAR is a publicly traded, family-run company with sales in more than 140 countries supplying overhead conductors, medium-voltage covered conductors, optical ground wire cables, specialty oils, polymers, and lubricants. TCA approved a 1.656 percent, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
