Congressman Taylor announces Clermont County Sheriff Chris Stratton as guest to State of the Union Address

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Dave Taylor (OH-02) announced that Clermont County Sheriff Chris Stratton will join him as his guest at President Trump’s State of the Union Address. The address will occur on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 9 p.m. Eastern Time.

“Few things are more important than keeping our families safe, and I’m proud to work alongside local officials like Sheriff Stratton to reduce crime and keep drugs off our streets,” said Congressman Taylor. “Sheriff Stratton has tirelessly served Clermont County for over three decades and is a driving force holding criminals accountable and enforcing our laws. Under President Trump’s leadership, our nation is seeing record-low crime, and I look forward to continuing to promote collaboration between federal and local leaders to ensure our communities are safe and prosperous for decades to come.”

Beginning his career in law enforcement in 1993 as a deputy sheriff in the Court Services Unit of the Clermont County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Stratton has served Clermont County for over three decades. 

Throughout his career, he has served in multiple special units, including the Sheriff’s Honor Guard, the K-9 unit, and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. After a decade on Patrol, Sheriff Stratton moved to the Investigative Unit and was promoted to Corporal, acting as a supervisor on the Road Patrol. In 2009, Sheriff Stratton was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the Investigative Unit.

In 2014, Sheriff Stratton became Captain and managed the Investigative Unit and Clermont County Narcotics Unit until he was promoted to Chief Deputy in 2017. Sheriff Stratton has served as Sheriff of Clermont County since 2023. He holds a bachelor’s degree in social science with an emphasis in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati, and has additionally completed several advanced investigative courses, including homicide, advanced death, and medicolegal investigation.

Congressman Dave Taylor represents Ohio’s Second Congressional District, which includes Clermont, Clinton, Pike, Adams, Brown, Highland, Ross, Scioto, Pickaway, Hocking, Vinton, Jackson, Lawrence, Gallia, and Meigs counties, as well as part of Fayette County. Taylor serves on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the House Agriculture Committee. Prior to serving in Congress, Taylor worked as an assistant prosecutor for Clermont County before joining his family’s concrete business, where he ultimately served as President.
