    Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss handed down multiple prison sentences in several unrelated cases Wednesday, including on charges of illegal assembly, aggravated trafficking in drugs and failing to register as a sex offender.
     ?    Other defendants were sentenced to community control, including one man who the judge said would have faced prison time were it not for the recent sentence reform law House Bill 86.

PORTSMOUTH - A grand jury in Scioto County Common Pleas Court has handed down an indictment against a Greenfield man on charges of felonious assault, kidnapping and soliciting.

    Stephen Drummond, 29, was initially arrested by the Greenfield Police Department in March on a charge of kidnapping, stemming from an alleged incident Portsmouth.

The New Market Township Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting on Monday, May 7 at 7 p.m. at to discuss future of EMS and fire services in New Market Township.

The Washington Township Board of Trustees will hold a public meeting Saturday, May 5 at the township building on state Route 73 in Berrysville. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. for the purpose of hearing public comment on township EMS/fire contracts.

The Division of Liquor Control of the Ohio Department of Commerce has ruled it will allow the liquor license application process to continue for a Highland County business, following objections to the application from an area church and the Highland County Board of Commissioners.

    Business owner Christina Gill, of Lynchburg, has purchased the former Sunnyside Inn on U.S. 50 in Allensburg across from the Allensburg Church of Christ. Gill has applied for a liquor license for the establishment.

The Greenfield Police Department says a 3-year-old child sustained serious facial injuries after she was attacked by a dog at an area home.

A Greenfield man has been cited for failure to control following an ATV crash that left four people injured in Buckskin Township.

    According to the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and the Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District, four people were riding on a four-wheeler Sunday evening on West Fall Road near Harper's Station Road in Ross County.
