Given the rainy Labor Day weather, a brave and hearty crowd strolled around the Highland County Fair Monday. Remnants of Hurricane Isaac dampened the fairgrounds with a steady downpour, but that did not dampen the spirits of the fair-goers. While the midway rides were temporarily closed, a number of shows continued inside the fairgrounds' buildings.

One of two Ohio suspects charged with conspiracy for allegedly making online threats has pleaded not guilty. As previously reported, Waterland, 24, and Brett Hudson, 26, of Hillsboro, are facing charges in the case.
The Liberty Township trustees will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 at the township building at 95 Moore Road, Hillsboro, in order to discuss the immediate decision needed to repair township equipment.
