Tree removal angers Paint Township residents

On Sept. 5, 2009 my husband and I heard chain saws, close chain saws. This tree removal service was on our property on Spargur Lane cutting down our trees. They told us they were cutting and clearing for the Paint Township trustees. We asked them to stop while we frantically tried to reach the trustees. They refused. That day by quitting time, they had cut 50 trees from our road frontage and hauled away our wood. This was all done without our permission or any discussion. My husband told them it was our wood and we wanted it but to no avail.
Slowly, this entire mess has unfolded where we finally received some of the cut wood but not after sacrificing another 10 or so trees. We have been told the township could cut 15 feet from the center of the road in either direction. There are places where they went 20, 22 and 25 feet into our property. They took healthy ash, walnut and maple trees that were 60 feet high and not a limb dangling.
As of this writing, the mess remains, stumps, logs, cut vines and multiflora litter the road. What was promised didn't happen and our property will never be the same. Randy Mustard seemed to agree with us but he was outnumbered. This project got way out of hand and was handled unprofessionally and with no regard to the environment or the residents of the road. This little "cut and clear" venture will cost us Paint taxpayers a bundle as our hillsides continue to wash away into the road. Don't let this happen to you.
