Time to get Washington's attention

To the editor:

Teddy Roosevelt was, by all accounts, one of our very greatest presidents. But his political opponents tried to scare the public into believing he was just a warmonger who would quickly have the whole world aflame with war and violence if he were elected. His enemies hoped his famous motto: “Speak softly and carry a big stick” could be turned around to make the public tremble at the thought of some wild brawler in the White House. But that was all just political horseradish. Teddy was elected and the hard fact is that there was less War worldwide and more Peace worldwide during his administrations than at any other time in History, before or since.

We, the People rightfully wanted the 2008 elections to bring significant and positive change. One of the two cults that make up out Political Elite (the Democrats this time), flooded us with false promises until enough fools believed them to elect their candidates to Congress and the White House. Once in power, that cult immediately began abusing We, the People and spending us into the Poorhouse even faster than the other cult had done for the previous two terms. And they have every intention to continue doing so. This double-crossing and continued abuse by our Political Elite – our Royal Highness and his Royal Court, if you will, was and is not just predictable, but guaranteed.

The reason our Political Elite did not, and will not, change is because We, the People have not changed. We still swallow their lies and false promises in the vain hope that someday they will tell the Truth and actually act in our best interest. Our Royalty in Washington will not change until We, the People change. We will not get the change we need and want until We, the People change. Our Royalty will not bring us the change We, the People need simply because they are not the ones who are doing the suffering. We, the People need to change that. It really is that simple.

Fortunately, there is just one change that We, the People have to make in order to get our Political Elite to change immediately. We need to make

it crystal clear to our Royalty that We, the People are now serious – serious enough that we are now telling them, not asking them. To do so, We,

the People must first realize and accept that there is one and only one message we can give our Political Elite that will make them listen. We, the

People must demonstrate that members of our Political Elite, whether they call themselves Republicans or Democrats, are now going to suffer very real,

very personally painful consequences for their lies and abuse and greed and arrogance and failure.

That will be difficult for some – those that turn a blind eye to the millions of our citizens harmed by our Political Elite over the past two decades. Yes, it would be nice to avoid this, but then it would also be nicer to have our political “leaders” act in our best interest instead of their own.  But we have had nearly three decades of our Political Elite proving they will not respond in Good Faith to anything except the real and immediate possibility of personal suffering. So that is the change We, the People need to make now. We need to pick up Teddy Roosevelt’s stick, be prepared to use it with full force, and then speak to our Political Elite.

Sincerely,

Jim Moore
