To the editor:
In response to Mr. Rentz’ letter to the editor “GOP needs a name
change,” I would like to point out the errors in his thought.
A strong America needs men and women with substantial amounts of financial resources to infuse into the economy to ensure stable and productive markets. Who provides money to new companies and expanding businesses? I am not an economic expert, my degree is in history, but I realize that private capital is vital to America’s future economic success.
Mr. Rentz notes that the GOP would like to deny the extension of
unemployment benefits. I understand that there are people in this county that truly need these benefits. However, people that receive unemployment compensation for long periods of time became lethargic and unproductive.
They are a detriment to our economic well-being. This condition or process occurs when poor behavior is rewarded — a common theme to liberals who are more concerned with votes than real economic change.
Another concern Mr. Rentz notes is economic development. He conveniently plays “the outsourcing of American jobs overseas” card. Does Mr. Rentz know that many new jobs created in America are from overseas businesses? I believe KIA just built an assembly plant in Georgia and the Toyota assembly plant in Georgetown, Ky., has been employing Americans for a few years.
Maybe Mr. Rentz should mobilize leadership from Highland County and escort the team down to West Point, Ga., and find out how they recruited KIA to build an assembly plant in their small town of 3,500 residents.
The other point, “continued deficit spending” is somewhat blurred. I’m still trying to figure out what he meant. And yes, Mr. Rentz, the party that touts Christian values is still trying to overcome the morality decline of the Clinton era.
