National Assisted Living Week Sept. 11-17

National Assisted Living Week (NALW) will take place Sept. 11-17, and will feature the theme “Forever Proud.”
We invite the community to join us in celebrating residents’ lives and thanking volunteers, family members, staff and others at one of our “Forever Proud” events.
We will host an open house for current, past and prospective volunteers and the general public on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at Highland House Assisted Living.
“Forever Proud” was chosen because the first day of NALW occurs on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. In addition to saluting the fallen, Forever Proud addresses the pride that Americans feel as citizens and active members of the community.
In addition to our open house, we will be holding an ice cream social in honor of our veterans on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. The Highland House will be signing and collecting cards to send to our troops overseas.
On Friday, Sept. 16, we welcome Hillsboro Mayor Dick Zink, who will be honoring the Highland House residence for National Assisted Living Week.
Forever Proud represents pride in a life of work done well, in family and friends, or of a mastered skilled.
NALW was established in 1995 by the National Center for Assisted Living to provide a special opportunity to bring together residents, families, employees, volunteers, and the surrounding community to celebrate residents and the services provided by the staff within assisted living communities. Every year, the week long celebration begins on Grandparent’s Day.
The “Forever Proud” events help us say “thank you” to our assisted living residents, many of whom have made significant contributions to our Hillsboro as business people, civic leaders, firefighters, teachers, parents, and grandparents.
