Jim Winner is a winner

Winner is a “WINNER”
To the editor:
I had the pleasure to meet Jim Winner for the first time in the late 1990s at the open house for the Hillsboro Community TV building.
Jim expressed that he would like to start a  sports program to feature local athletes and sports, which evolved into the very popular show  “Chief's Corner.”
Chief and my father spent many, many hours taping, interviewing and broadcasting local sports. This was a passion for the both of them. It was not about recognition or pay. It was about giving back to other people.
I then had the opportunity of helping Chief in the early stages of the Patriot Center; setting up and training people on the scoreboards and PA system. Again, Chief put in many hours before and after events that very few people are aware of.
Jim treated the Patriot Center and all Southern State property the same way he would his own - with great pride.
I have always seen the things that Chief has done for people, that only showed his kind heart, to go above and beyond to put the other person first.
The actions by SSCC are very disappointing to say the  least.
But one thing is for sure, Winner is not only Jim’s last name. Winner is a description of Jim as a person.
Sincerely,
Ron "Young Ron" Hennison, Jr.
