Humane Society employee asks community for support

To the editor:

I am an employee at the Highland County Humane Society. Our organization has been helping the people and animals of Highland County for over 40 years! Like everyone else, we are not exempt from the failing economy. Everyday we are asked to care for the animals whose owners can no longer afford to feed or house them. We struggle daily to provide care for over 65 animals at the shelter. This is a plea to the residents of this wonderful county to help keep our shelter operating for another 40 years. It would be a tragedy for us to have to close our doors. Please open your hearts to help us help the animals. You can send donations to P.O. Box 471, Hillsboro, or call us at 393-2110 for a list of our needs.
Thank you,
Sandra Lowe
