Do Kasich supporters have voter's remorse?

To the editor:
I am writing to all those voters who voted for John Kasich as governor and asking if you have voter’s remorse yet?
Kasich campaigned by telling voters that state services must be cut very deeply, and that state employees must receive less. Ohio could only get turned around by a lot of belt tightening. Now, Kasich has hired his chief of staff at $170,000 a year. That’s about $47,000 more than Strickland paid his chief of staff and what President Obama will pay his new chief of staff.
Kasich’s new communications director will earn $130,000 a year, compared to $89,000 for Strickland’s director. Kasich’s press secretary will be paid $90,000 a year which is $20,000 more than Strickland’s. So it is now apparent that while all the rest of the state must suck it up and do with less, the people working for Governor Kasich are in for big pay days.
So much for setting an example by holding the line, but this is typical Republican policy. The people at the top get a lot and all the rest have to make do. If a Democratic governor was paying these high salaries given the economic conditions in Ohio, conservatives, Republicans, TEA party members, and conservative newspaper editors would be having a fit.
Governor Kasich has named the members of his Cabinet and for the first time since 1962, there is not a single black or Hispanic member in the Cabinet. He can make excuses but his decisions certainly show that the Republican Party wants to take Ohio back to the 1950s.
Lastly, Kasich and Republicans said that Ohio’s retirement systems for public employees were in trouble and that future retirees would have to do with less. But it turns out that a substantial number of Governor Kasich’s Cabinet are double dipping, in that they are drawing a full salary and a full public retirement. So much for belt tightening by the people in charge. The only belt tightening will be done by those of us not part of ruling corporate elite.
