Christmas campaign for needy families under way

 To the editor:

For the last few years I have coordinated a campaign to reach those of our

students and families who would not celebrate Christmas due to circumstances

beyond their control. Last year we helped nine families through the out

pouring of support from our staff and members in the community in getting

each child a gift and food for the families. By contacting members in the

community on the Up Town Business Association and word of mouth and working

with the Hillsboro High School FFA we where able to help nine families and

18 children. 

So far this year I have been given a list of 23 students plus their siblings

and parents for a total of 11 families.

Here is the list I have so far:

#1.    Family with two kids-  Kids need clothes,

14 yr old Boy, size men’s 2XL shirts and coat, Pants size 44x30, shoes size

101/2.  Would like to have a men’s bike (like a BMX) and a South Pole

Hoddie, would like a watch and a pair of DC shoes size 10 _, gloves and a

toboggan.

11 yr. Old, Girl’s pants size 14, shirt size 16x18 and a coat size 16x18,

Shoes size 3. Would like a Hanna Montana bike, a jump rope, Michael Jackson

CD, “This is it” a bear and a watch.

#2 Five in the family in need of household items, pots and pans, towels and

wash clothes, (would be happy with anything including used items)

11 yr old boy, 1st boy, pants 8-9 slim, likes anything Spiderman, coat boys

med. Both would like an mp3 player or an IPOD.

12 yr old boy, 2nd boy, pants 8-9 slim, coat boys’ med. Needs shoes size 9,

Likes card tricks

17 year old girl, pants size 9, likes Aeropostale and American eagle tops

size med. Shoes 91/2, Coat med.

Mom need winter tops or sweaters Med to Large

Dad needs a heavy winter coat XL pants 33x34 shirt XL

#3     Family is homeless, living at the homeless shelter, looking for a

place to live 

Boy in need of a warm hoddie that zips up. Would love a South Pole Hoddie, I

Pod, socks, underwear size med or 34, jeans size 32x30,

Mom could use sweater med. And sweat shirt and pants med, and socks.

#4.     D.N/ D.N. 2 kids

11 yr old Boy,

#5.    3 kids- O.D.+ 2 Brothers

13 yr old Girl-

11 yr old brother

8 yr old brother

#6  6 yr.olds, requested by his sister in the high school, because

they won’t have Christmas, both parents unemployed, sister not asking for

anything. 

Boy Clothes size 5 pants and shirt, shoes size11, wants toys, transformer 2

mask, bumble bee, power ranger dress up kit, transformers L power bots, toy

story classic track pay set, Lite Brite Cube, Star Wars Hide N Fun Elite

Tent, Rocken Socken Robots, Wow wow wubbzy plushie,

#7    Family with 2 boys and 1 two yr old little girl, mom and dad not

working. Needs a queen, box spring and mattress for the boys and a dresser,

any house hold items, sheets queen size for mom and boys and twin for the

little girl, need towels and wash clothes and dish towels (would be happy

with anything including used items)

14 yr old boy, shoes 11 1/2, shirt size med, jeans size 14, coat boys size

Large, would like a boom box,

12 yr old boy, pants size 10, med shirts, size 9 shoes, coat boys size med,

would like any kind of play station II games.

2 yr old needs any clothes, sleepers, shoes and socks size 5 _, Dora dolls,

Need a twin bed frame sleeps on a mattress on the floor.

Mother needs clothes pants size 13 Jr. Med to Large tops.

Dad needs coat Large, shoes 7 _, pants 29x29, large shirt

#8    Boy and girl-C.D. family could use blankets, pots and pans and silver/

wear. 

Boy 12, needs jeans size 9-10 slim, Med. Shirt, 2 _ - 3 size shoes, coat

size med. Wants car rug with race track on it at Wal-Mart, likes match box

cars. 

Girl 7 yrs old shoes size 13-1, pants size 7-8, shirts 7-8, Coat med. likes

baby dolls, Dora, and Hanna Montana and pet shop animals

#9    F.S.

#10    14 yr old needs jeans size 38x34 and both could use socks

17 yr old needs jeans size 34 x 34, the family could use towels and wash

cloths,  

#11     3 children, Grandmother called in, they do not have a Christmas tree

or decorations.

Boy age 6 needs pants 6 or 7, shirts 6- 7 and socks, shoes size 13 _, would

like wrestling figurines, hand held games and toys.

Boy age 11, needs shirts and pants and underwear size 10, coat size 10 hat

and gloves,  would like high school musical watch and an mp3 player,

Girls age 3, top, pants and underwear size 4, shoes size 10, would like Dora

dishes, stroller and doll

I am still waiting on the information on some of the students but wanted to

get this out in case anyone would like to start helping.
