Wolf leads Clinton-Massie to 77-0 win over Indians

Kyle Davis scored from a yard out with 1:42 remaining Friday night to complete the scoring in a 77-0 rout of the Hillsboro Indians by perennial SCOL powerhouse Clinton-Massie.
Davis's touchdown was the 11th TD of the night by the Falcons, but the first of his varsity career.
Teammate Bayle Wolf carried Davis off the Richards Memorial Field as the Clinton-Massie faithful gave the junior a standing ovation.
The Falcons scored early and often against the Indians. Wolf led the charge in the first quarter with 144 yards and three touchdowns on three carries. On his first touch, Wolf raced 73 yards to the end zone with 9:45 left in the opening period.
The senior runningback scored again less than two minutes later on a 56-yard TD run.
After Davey Tunon returned a blocked Hillsboro punt for the Falcons' third score, Wolf had his first-quarter trifecta with a 15-yard touchdown run from scrimmage.
Wolf carried the ball once more in the second period with a familiar result: this time, it was a 30-yard TD run to cap the first-half scoring at 56-0.
Unofficially, Wolf carried the ball four times for 174 yards and four touchdowns for the defending state champions.
He did not carry the ball in the second half, as Coach Dan McSurley removed most of his starters after halftime.
Also scoring for Clinton Massie were:
• Kelson Gauden on a 40-yard TD pass from Hunter Fentress.
• Jared Halley on 59-yard reception on a pass from Fentress.
• Fentress on 27-yard TD run.
• Tunon on a 26-yard TD run.
• Devon O'Bryon on a 43-yard TD on the final play of the third period.
Offensively, the Indians struggled all night. Their first two first downs came by way of Falcon penalties. The first time the Indians moved the chains without benefit of a penalty came in the third period when quarterback Toby Warrington connected with Matt Arnold for a 14-yard gain.
Hillsboro (1-5) travels to East Clinton on Oct. 11. Clinton Massie (5-1) hosts Chillicothe on Friday, Oct. 11.

Notes/Asides
• Hillsboro runningback Lane Hester was injured on the final play of the first half and did not play in the second half.
• Chayse Wolf blocked a Jordan Mosley punt in the first period that led to a Davey Tunon touchdown.
• Jordan Mosley had a sack of C-M QB Hunter Fentress for a six-yard loss in the first half.
• Toby Warrington had a 15-yard run – Hillsboro's longest gain from scrimmage – to move the ball into Falcons' territory for the first time in the third period, but Hillsboro could not sustain the drive.
• Clinton-Massie placekicker Callum Jones was 11 for 11 on extra-point attempts Friday at Richards Memorial Field, prompting several fans to wonder if this was a new record at RMF.
• Hillsboro Head Coach Matt Hodge will take his Indians to play his former team, the East Clinton Astros, on Oct. 11.
