Volley for the Cure: Lady Falcons sweep Hillsboro in 3 sets

HILLSBORO — The Hillsboro Lady Indians hosted their annual Volley for the Cure game where the Clinton-Massie Lady Falcons won in three straight sets Thursday at Hillsboro High School.
Before the match, there were games played for prizes, along with raffles, auctions and baked goods and merchandise sales all raised for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure, along with breast cancer survivor Renee Hagan and daughter/HHS volleyball player Erin Hagan speaking to the fans in attendance.
Both teams wore Volley for the Cure T-shirts with their numbers on it during the match.
For the night, the event raised $1,300.
"We would like to thank Paula Kiser and her marketing class for this event," HHS coach Nichole Dickey said. "They have put this together for three years, and each year they outdo themselves.
"I also want to thank Mrs. Hagan for her speech. With Erin being a part of the team, it brings this cause home more to the girls."

As for the South Central Ohio League match the loss dropped HHS to 5-10 overall and moved the Lady Falcons 10-5 on the season.
Scores for the sweep by CM were 25-16, 25-7 and 25-5.
The first set was tied four times at 1-1, 2-2, 12-12 and 13-13, but from that point on, the Lady Falcons led for the remainder of the set as they took a 20-14 lead. HHS came back to within five points with help from Autumn Hacker on a spike. CM scored five of the final six points of the set for the nine-point win. Earlier in the match, Hacker put HHS ahead 13-12, while also contributing to the HHS score was Kirsten Juillerat with a block at the top of the net.
Sets two and three weren't so kind to the Lady Indians as they totaled 12 points combined with CM scoring 12 straight to end the second set and scoring 12 straight in the latter stages of set three for a lead of 21-3.
Contributing to the CM scoring in set three were Kasey Uetrecht, Hannah Smith, Brianna Machado, Kylie Davis and Jessica Tapp.
