Miami Trace fends off Hillsboro Indians

The Hillsboro Indians pressured the host Miami Trace Panthers late into the fourth quarter but overall were just shy of gaining a South Central Ohio League win, falling to the Panthers, 57-51.
The loss on Tuesday moves the Indians to 0-2 in the SCOL and 3-2 overall.
For HHS, they trailed 15-7 following the completion of the first quarter and 32-19 at the halftime break, as they were outscored 17-12 in the quarter.
In the third, the Indians' defense held MT to just five points, while HHS scored nine for a 37-28 score after 24 minutes. In the fourth, HHS outscored MT, 23-20.
HHS was led in scoring by senior Jordan Captain with 17 points. Captain made seven two-point baskets and was 3-of-5 from the free-throw line.
Also in double figures for the Indians were Logan Lesley and Alex Van Zant with 10 points each. Lesley made one 3-pointer, while Van Zant had two 3-pointers.
Latrell Haithcock totaled seven points, and Zach Young scored five points. Rounding out the scoring for HHS was Trey Moberly with two points.

The Indians didn't have one of their top scorers in Austin Bagshaw on the court Tuesday.
HHS finished 8-of-13 from the free-throw line. MT went 10-of-15.
Markham led the Panthers with 17 points.
The Indians will play again on Friday when they travel to face the McClain Tigers in a cross-county SCOL rivalry game.
