The history-making high school tennis career of Hillsboro senior Reese Leibreich came to an end on Saturday as he was eliminated in the East/Southeast Division II District tournament in Athens, at Ohio University.

Leibreich, the No. 1 seed of the Southeast District, reached the championship round (the final four) of the district tournament but was eliminated by Cambridge senior Aaron Ruby, who was the No. 2 seed of the East District, by scores of 6-2 and 7-5.

For the season, the lone match loss for Leibreich came in the district tournament, as he won 15 consecutive matches in the regular season, two matches in the sectionals and one in the districts for 18 total wins for an 18-1 mark.

In the regular season, he won games by a 6-0 score 15 times. He was also the singles champion of the Teays Valley Invitational.

Leibreich didn't have a match go three sets in the regular season.

Only the Top 2 players in the district advance to the state tournament.

Leibreich won every match this season in South Central Ohio League play in first singles.

Last year, as a junior, Leibreich qualified for the Division II State championships as a No. 2 seed in the district tournament, as he's the only tennis player in HHS school history to reach the state tournament.

Last season as a junior, Leibreich won 19 matches, finishing 19-2, including the postseason.
