Lady Indians, Tigers take part in day one of SCOL meet

    GREENFIELD - Day one of the 2010 South Central Ohio League Track and Field Meet was held at McClain Field in Greenfield as the girls teams from all seven SCOL schools took part in many prelim and final events.

    The finals of the 4x800 were held as the Washington Lady Blue Lion team of Ashley Lovett, Molli Shaw, Adrienne Perrill and Paige McRoberts won the event with a time of 10:20.77. Miami Trace placed second, followed by Clinton-Massie. The Hillsboro Lady Indians (Hannah Patton, Taylor Stanforth, Brittany Ferrell and Amelia Gustin) placed fourth with a time of 10:55.62. London finished fifth and the McClain Lady Tigers (Kelly Mustard, Caitlynn Anderson, Elizabeth Prayner and Gretta Reyer) were sixth with a time of 11:44.30.

    In the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles, the top eight finishers of two heats advanced to Thursday's final. The top eight included Leah Pence of Hillsboro, running the fastest time of 16.90. The second fastest time was Maggie Bottorff of Miami Trace at 18.18.

    Kailyn Romine (Washington) was third, followed by McClain's Sarah Upp at 18.35. Also making the final were Lauren Bishop (WSHS), Tia Mitchell (MHS), Avery Davidson (MP) and Marissa Rife (MT). Hillsboro's Kayla Savage finished ninth.

    The top eight finishers of the 100m dash advanced to Thursday with Washington's Courtney Merritt running the fastest at 13.51.

    Hillsboro's Holly Fouch was second with a time of 13.60. Fouch was followed by Rachel Eaton (LHS), Felicity Peabody (MHS, 13.71), Deidre McKay (MT), Jenna Cobb (MT), Amelia Gustin (HHS, 13.96) and Kasey Bennett (CM).

    Miami Trace's Jenna Cobb had the quickest time in the 400m dash prelim with a time of 1:02.67.

    Placing second was Katelyn Nance (LHS), followed by Felicity Peabody (MHS, 1:04.27), Colleen Meehan (WSHS), Brittany Ferrell (HHS, 1:05.19), Holly Fouch (HHS, 1:05.44), Kaitlyn Faulconer (MHS, 1:05.96) and Sydney Wilson (MT). All eight runners will race on Thursday.

    In the 300m hurdles, Taylor Faulconer had the fastest prelim time at 49.62. Hillsboro's Taylor Stanforth was second at 52.77. The third-fastest time belonged to Maggie Bottorff (MT), followed by Kaitlyn Romine (WSHS), Rachel Eaton (LHS), Sarah Dunham (LHS), Kayla Savage (HHS, 54.14) and Lauren Bishop (WSHS).

    The fastest time in the 200m prelim was Courtney Colwell of London, at 27.82. Washington's Courtney Merritt finished at 28.36 for the second-fastest time.

    Felicity Peabody (MHS) was third at 28.30; she was followed by Holly Fouch (HHS, 29.17), Anna Frazier (WSHS), Sydney Wilson (MT), Deidre McKay (MT) and Taylor Faulconer (MHS, 30.01), as the eight runners will race in the finals Thursday.

    The finals for the high jump event saw Logan Rowe of Washington win the event with a new school record of 5-04.00. London's Kayla Crager was second at 5-02.00. Hannah Patton (HHS) was fourth at 4-08.00. Leah Pence (HHS) was eighth at 4-06.00.

    In the shot put final, Jessica Guyett (WSHS) won with a distance of 37-00.00. Amelia Gustin (HHS) was third at 32-05.00. Sarah Elrhanjaoui (MHS) was seventh at 28-01.00. Sidney Applegate (HHS) was tenth with a distance of 25-05.50. In twelth was McClain's Sarah Balzer at 19-05.50.

    Teams participating in the event are: Hillsboro, McClain, Washington, Clinton-Massie, London, Miami Trace and Madison-Plains.
