Lady Indians swept by Chillicothe

Hillsboro made the scores closer in each game but were unable to win the match, as the Lady Indians lost in three straight games for visiting Chillicothe Tuesday in their South Central Ohio League opener.
The home loss for the Lady Indians puts them at 0-1 in the SCOL and 2-3 overall, as HHS lost by scores of 25-9, 25-12 and 25-19.
"Our third game was our strongest," HHS head coach Amy Vance said. "We had great passing."
This season, the Lady Indian volleyball team has defeated West Union and Fairfield in non-league matches.
"The girls have amazing potential, they just have to tap into it," Vance said. "Savannah (Cameron) was our strongest passer, while Megan (Overberg) was our strongest server. Maddie (Snyder) and Bailey (Patton) were strong hitters in the match."
As for Tuesday's contest, the first game for HHS went quickly for the Lady Indians as the visitors scored seven consecutive points near the end of the first game to go from a 17-8 advantage to a 23-8 lead. From there, the final point of the first game was scored off a block at the top of the net by Madison Snyder, as HHS lost the first game by 16 points.

Snyder finished with seven hits and two kills.
The second game was closer in the scorebook, but it didn't start that way, as the Lady Indians trailed 12-0 following the first 12 points scored.
From there, the hosts scored two points, and later, the third HHS point of the game came off a spike from Megan Overberg. Later in the second game, HHS scored three straight points with help from Snyder on a serve and a tip near the front of the net by Overberg, for an 18-7 deficit. Overberg ended the match with nine quality serves.
Chloe Harless of HHS scored the 10 points by hitting the ball off a CHS player on a spike, and that was followed by Bailey Patton (five hits, one kill) making a play at the net. CHS responded by ending the second game with a spike and an ace for the 13-point win.
The Lady Indians were their most competitive in game three with the score being tied at 3, 5, 6, 7 and 9.
HHS led twice in the third game at 4-3 following a block by Patton and at 5-4 after a hit from the middle of the court from Overberg.
Hillsboro tied the score at 7-7 when Megan Wehrung scored a point.
Later in game three, Wehrung and Snyder brought HHS closer to tying the score with consecutive points, cutting the Lady Indians' deficit to two points at 14-12.
HHS had one last rally near the end of the third game with another point by Wehrung and an ace by Savannah Cameron (17 quality passes), but the match ended with CHS scoring the final point for the six-point win at 25-19.
The Lady Indians play again on Thursday as they host the Washington Lady Blue Lions in SCOL play.
