Lady Indians fall to Miami Trace

EBER — The Hillsboro Lady Indians dropped their fifth straight game to start the season Friday night, falling to defending seven-time South Central Ohio League champion Miami Trace, 59-23.

HHS was led in scoring by senior Jenni Willey with 10 points. She was followed by fellow senior A.J. Sanders with six points. Danielle Gillman scored two points.

Carey Juillerat scored three points for HHS, followed by Tessa Hilterbran and Taylor Moberly with one point each.

Of the 23 points scored by HHS (0-3, 0-5), five were via free throw, as they were 5-of-8 from the free-throw line. HHS was 10-of-36 from the field (including 3-pointers) for 28 percent.

Unofficially, HHS had 42 turnovers with 26 rebounds, including eight offensively.

For Miami Trace (4-0. 7-0), they were led in scoring by Deidre McKay and Ashley Lawson with 17 points each. MT was 6-of-14 from the free-throw line. From the field, the Lady Panthers were 26-of-74.

Unofficially, MT had 32 rebounds and 18 turnovers.

The game began with MT leading 20-8 after the first quarter, followed with  halftime lead of 36-12.
