Lady Indians advance to district finals; blank Circleville

The Hillsboro Lady Indians moved to 2-0 this postseason with a tough, scrappy win as they defeated the Circleville Lady Tigers, 3-0 at Jackson High School.
HHS improves to 14-2-2 overall with the victory, while CHS finishes at 10-7-2, as this was their first trip to the district semifinals since the 2011 season.
The Division II SE District semifinal win by the Lady Indians puts them back in the district finals for the second consecutive year, as they are the reigning champions of the SE District.
"This was a pretty intense match," HHS coach Leslie Molen said. "The kids played hard, settled down and out off a good Circleville attack at times."
In their match against the Lady Tigers, it was Trista Rhodes who scored two first-half goals for HHS, giving them their 2-0 advantage, as one of the two goals was assisted by Cheyney Myers.

The final goal for the No. 1 seeded Lady Indians came in the second half with Ashley Purtee who took the ball over 70 yards downfield, placing the ball into the right corner of the goal, as she beat the defense of the Lady Tigers.
"Circleville had a good defensive attack as well," Molen said. "We managed to get through a few times, and it worked."
Before this game, CHS had yet to allow a goal this postseason in their first two matches, where they'd outscored their opponents, 7-0. CHS defeated Zane Trace, 2-0 and South Point, 5-0.
For HHS, they've defeated Unioto by a 3-2 score and now CHS.
As for the HHS defense, keeper Rachel Sexton had four saves with the Lady Indians controlling possession for nearly 85 percent of the match.
"Our defense was stellar," Molen said.
HHS will now play in the district final on Saturday, Oct. 26 Jackson High School, starting at 10 a.m. HHS will face No. 6 seeded Fairfield-Union, who defeated Chillicothe, 2-1 in their district semifinal match, Tuesday.
Last season, HHS won the district title with an overtime win against Warren, 3-2 at JHS.
