Indians win recent games over Chillicothe, East Clinton

On Friday, April 22 the Hillsboro Indians earned a win at home against the Chillicothe Cavaliers by a 5-4 score with the Indians scoring two runs in the seventh inning for the walk-off win.
The Indians trailed by a 1-0 score following the first inning, and 4-0 after four innings with Chillicothe scoring one run in the top of the third and two runs in the fourth inning.
HHS responded with one run in the bottom of the fifth, followed with a two-run sixth inning and they walked off with two more runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Hillsboro finished the game with six hits and one error, while the Cavaliers had five hits and one error.
In the walk-off seventh inning, the Indians saw Korbin Adams and Brayden Cochran begin the inning with walks, followed by the first out of the inning. Both runners advanced on a balk, and the bases were loaded with a walk forced by Corbin Willey. Adams scored in the ensuing at-bat of a sacrifice fly by Spencer Wyckoff.
The Indians followed that with Quintin Captain loading the bases on a walk, and the win came with Cochran scoring from third base on a passed ball.
HHS totaled six hits with Bryce Parsons going 2-for-4 with one run and Ethan Grooms at 2-for-3 with one run. Willey and Garet Thompson each had one hit.
Adams, Cochran, Parsons, Willey and Grooms each scored a run. RBIs were credited to Wyckoff (two), while Captain and Canaan Griffith each had one RBI.
Grooms pitched one inning of relief to gain the win, allowing no runs, no hits and no walks. Cochran was the starting pitcher and in the no-decision pitched six innings, where he allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and four walks. Cochran totaled four strikeouts.
On Saturday, April 23, the Indians defeated the East Clinton Astros by a 7-6 score at HHS. The Indians took the lead with a six-run second inning, followed by the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
East Clinton scored five runs in the sixth inning and one run in the top of the seventh inning.
ECHS totaled five hits and had four errors. HHS totaled eight hits and had two errors.
Liam Smart was 3-for-4 with one RBI to lead the Indians, while Willey, Evan Fender, Bryce Parsons, Lance Hainline and Tyler Tomera-Hiller each had one hit.
Runs were scored by Adams, Will Hart, Griffith, Tomera-Hiller, Garet Thompson and Gavin Thompson.
RBIs were credited to Adams, Willey, Smart, Fender, Parsons and Hainline. Hart forced two walks, while Garet Thompson and Gavin Thompson each had one walk.
Grooms was the winning pitcher as he pitched 0.2 innings of relief, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk.
Willey was the starting pitcher with two strikeouts, and Thompson pitched 5.1 innings of relief, where he had nine strikeouts.
The two wins move the Indians to 5-7 overall this season.
