Indians lose on road to Jackson Ironmen

Facing one of the top teams in the Frontier Athletic Conference in Week 7, the Hillsboro Indians fell in conference action to the host Jackson Ironmen by a 63-7 score Friday night.
Jackson (2-0, 5-2) wasted very little time by taking a 14-0 lead 23 seconds into the game with Cade Wolford scoring a touchdown on the first play of the game, followed by Thatcher Brown picking up a fumble on the kickoff for a touchdown run and a 14-0 advantage following two made PATs after the touchdowns.
Wolford added another touchdown to his résumé with a 7-yard rush to the end zone. The made PAT put the Ironmen ahead 21-0 with 7:16 left in the first quarter.
Later in the first quarter, there was a positive for the Indians, that being Ayden Clemons recovering a fumble for the Indians with under 3:00 left in the opening quarter.
With JHS leading by 21 points after the first quarter, and after the Indians had the fumble recovery, the Ironmen equaled the feat with a fumble recovery of their own. The Ironmen took advantage of the extra opportunity as Jacob Winters passed to Braydon Stapleton for a 17-yard score. The converted PAT put Jackson ahead, 28-0.
JHS added another touchdown with 4:34 left in the second quarter as Brayden Powell scored on first-and-goal for six points. The made PAT lifted the Jackson advantage to 35-0.
The Hillsboro deficit increased to 42 points following a 1-yard run by Jacob Woods with 1:55 on the scoreboard. The PAT sailed through the uprights for the 42-0 advantage, as that score stood at halftime.
With Jackson making roster changes to start the second half, the theme of the game stayed the same for the home team in the FAC contest as they reached pay dirt once again, this time with Bryce Dulaney reaching the end zone on first-and-goal. The PAT was again through the uprights for a 49-0 lead by JHS.
Jackson ended the third quarter with a 49-point lead, but that lead went to 56 points after a 1-yard run by Grant McCarty. The made PAT put the Ironmen’s lead to 56-0.
Hillsboro’s lone score came when on fourth-and-goal in the fourth quarter Preston Fauber found Austin Barrett for a 1-yard touchdown. The PAT by Jacob Tussey was good for a 56-7 score.
Jackson’s final touchdown came when Zander Ervin caught a touchdown pass with 2:00 left in the game. The PAT put the Ironmen ahead 63-7.
Next for the Hillsboro Indians (0-2, 3-4) is their third consecutive away game, this time traveling to Fayette County to face the Miami Trace Panthers (0-2, 2-5) at 7 p.m. MTHS lost in Week 7 to the Chillicothe Cavaliers, 35-28 in overtime.
