Indians fall to Cavaliers

The Hillsboro Indians started off strong with a first-quarter lead, but they just couldn't fend off the host Chillicothe Cavaliers for all 32 minutes, falling in a closely played game by a 57-54 score Friday night.
The Indians (0-1, 3-1) began the South Central Ohio League game by leading the first frame at 13-9 after eight minutes.
Hillsboro's second quarter didn't go so well, being outscored 16-4 by the Cavaliers, putting HHS at a 25-17 deficit.
The Indians weren't finished, though, battling back in the third by scoring 16 points, including eight from Jordan Captain and four by Latrell Haithcock. HHS outscored their opponents, 16-10 in the quarter for a deficit of just 35-33 headed into the fourth quarter.
Captain led the Indians with 14 points in the game, including finishing 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Haithcock finished with 10 points as he was 2-of-2 shooting free throws.
In the fourth, it was all about scoring with the Cavaliers just outscoring the Indians, 22-21. In the fourth for the Indians, Austin Bagshaw, Zach Young, Logan Lesley, Haithcock and Captain combined for the 21 points.

Young finished with 11 points, including a 3-pointer in the first quarter.
Bagshaw totaled nine points (one 3-pointer), while Lesley and Trey Moberly each scored four points. Alex Van Zant added two points.
The Indians were 8-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Tommy Bolte (CHS) led all scorers with 25 points, followed by Quintin Davidson with 11 points for the Cavs.
CHS made five 3-pointers and finished 9-of-11 from the free-throw line.
HHS will play again on Tuesday when they travel to Fayette County to face the Miami Trace Panthers in SCOL play.
