Hillsboro tennis tops Clinton-Massie

The Hillsboro Lady Indians tennis team has split their past two matches to start the week, falling to the Western Brown Lady Broncos, while defeating the Clinton-Massie Lady Falcons in South Central Ohio League play.
On Tuesday against the visiting Lady Falcons, the Lady Indians won all three divisions in singles play and both divisions in doubles to defend their home court.
In first singles, sophomore Vanessa McGinnis defeated senior Alex Vaughan 6-0, 6-1.
The second singles match saw junior Alexis Sears defeat junior Meg Galassini 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.

In doubles play, the HHS first doubles duo of junior Joci Taylor and sophomore Bree Opst defeated sophomores Jordan Bills and Morgan Eades 6-2, 6-7, 7-6.
HHS sophomores Madison Hopkins and Samantha Fender defeated Lady Falcon sophomores Emma Bailey and Kelly Deatherage 6-3, 6-4 in second doubles.
On Monday, the Lady Indians lost in non-league play to Western Brown, 1-4.
The lone HHS win came in third singles as Shanahan defeated sophomore K.K. Massey 6-4, 6-4.
McGinnis lost to junior Morgan Pischer 5-7, 5-7 in first singles, and HHS defaulted in second singles.
In first doubles, Sears and Opst lost to senior Emily Barber and junior Lindsey Harvey. The HHS duo of sophomore Natalie Stanley and junior Chloe Burkard lost to freshmen Kas Boyd and Jazmyn Pierce.
